Scope and Value Disputes

Sometimes it is the case that the insurer and insured do not disagree that the loss is covered under the policy, but there is a dispute as to the value of the loss or the scope of the damages.  In valuation disputes, a policy holder may have other options prior to litigation including appraisal.  An appraisal typically involves selecting appraisers who are competent in the field.  If appraisers cannot agree on the value of the loss, an umpire is selected to determine the final appraisal award.

Sometimes, scope and value disputes cannot be resolve prior to litigation, but early expert intervention can assure that your property is protected.
